We are proud to announce that the students of Zahira College Kalmunai have once again emerged as provincial champions and have secured their place in the national level chess competition.

On the 17th and 18th of August 2024, the Sri Lanka School Chess Federation Eastern Province Tournament took place at Trincomalee Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya. In this prestigious event, our students showcased remarkable talent and determination. M.A. Tamim was crowned champion in the Under-20 boys' category, while M.Z.M. Saneeb claimed the championship in the Under-17 boys' category. In the same category, A.S.A. Mijwad achieved an impressive runner-up position. Additionally, A. Arham Paravees secured second place in the Under-15 boys' category. M.J.I. Sahmi, M.N.M. Nisad, A.A. Anoop, and D.A. Seimi also qualified for the national level competition, demonstrating our school's exceptional chess prowess.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to these outstanding students for their achievements and wish them the very best in the upcoming national competition. We also acknowledge the dedication and expertise of our school's chess in-charge, Mr. M.Y.M. Rakeeb, and our chess instructor, Mr. S.L. Suhdan, for their invaluable guidance and coaching that led to these remarkable successes.
