For the first time in our school's history, Zahira College Kalmunai proudly participated in Star Quest ‘24, the annual all-island inter-school astronomy quiz competition organized by the Astronomical Society of the University of Colombo.

The event took place on the 24th of August at the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo.

This prestigious competition featured 50 of the top schools from across the island, with only four teams advancing to the semifinals. This year, Royal College Colombo, De Mazenod College Kandana, Ananda College Colombo, and Nalanda College Colombo were the semifinalists, with Royal College Colombo emerging as the champions. Despite this, our students partaking in this event for the first time marks a significant milestone in Zahirian history.

Representing our school were MWMW. Haseef, NM. Shamique, MAM. Aashif, and MJA. Anfas. Their passion and enthusiasm for astronomy have set the stage for a new chapter in the field at Zahira College Kalmunai.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who made this possible, including our principal, Mr. MI. Jabir, the deputy principals, and the school staff. A special thank you goes to Mr. MHM. Musthanzir, who accompanied the students on short notice. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the parents, whose unwavering support made the journey to this event a reality.

This momentous occasion is just the beginning of an exciting journey in the field of astronomy for Zahira College Kalmunai. Let this be the stepping stone to many more achievements in the years to come.
